Fish Out Of Water CDC, Inc. is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a grant to launch Anchors Up!, an after-school program designed to support middle and high school students who are members of Club Wilde Lake at Slayton House. This initiative will provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for students, equipping them with essential life skills while fostering personal growth and community involvement.
At the heart of Anchors Up! is a Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach, ensuring that students feel empowered, valued, and supported. Throughout the program, participants will:
✅ Complete the Love Notes relationship skills curriculum, an evidence-based program designed to help youth build healthy, meaningful relationships.
✅ Develop a wellness portfolio that encourages self-care, mindfulness, and personal well-being.
✅ Engage in mindfulness and art activities to promote emotional resilience and creativity.
✅ Learn the importance of civic engagement and community service, with opportunities to give back to their community.
✅ Gain insights and inspiration from guest speakers representing various fields.
Students who successfully complete the program will earn:
???? A certificate of completion
???? Community service hours toward their graduation requirements
???? A $50 gift card as a reward for their commitment and participation
The program will run through the end of the 24/25 school year and will be led by two dedicated Youth Engagement Specialists, who will serve as mentors and guides for participating students.
We are incredibly excited about the engagement and impact Anchors Up! will bring to the Wilde Lake community. This grant allows us to continue our mission of empowering youth, fostering strong relationships, and creating meaningful opportunities for personal and academic success.
