Why Healthy Relationships Matter for Teens

Positive, healthy, and safe teen dating and peer relationships have many benefits for youth and communities.  The benefits are not only important in dating and romantic relationships but effects all relationships to include parent/child, peer/peer, teacher/student, and employer/employee.  Benefits also include:

  • Improved school performance
  • Reduced antisocial and unhealthy behaviors, such as drug and alcohol use
  • Positive self-image and leadership skills
  • Improved interpersonal skills, communication and negotiation skills, and empathy

Sign Up for the Anchors Program.  Youth in grades 7-12 in Bladen, Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett, Scotland, Robeson, Columbus, and Sampson counties are eligible to apply.
